Pass plus

Statistics show that the risk of being involved in an accident is highest during the first two years of driving, after passing the driving test than at any other time in their driving career. In the first year of driving one driver in 5 is involved in an accident. This is mainly down to a lack of driving experience, and this is where Pass Plus comes in!

What is it?

Pass Plus is a course designed by the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) to enable newly qualified drivers to develop their skills further.  Pass plus will build upon your existing skills and knowledge, it will teach you how to anticipate, plan for and deal with all kinds of hazards, and can help you to become more confident on the roads.

Pass Plus is made up of 6 modules.

  1. Driving in town
  2. Driving in all weathers
  3. Driving on rural roads
  4. Driving at night
  5. Driving on dual carriageways
  6. Driving on motorways

There is no test to take at the end.  The pass certificate is awarded by continuous assessment by your STARFISH driving instructor. When all 6 modules have been successfully completed, the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) will issue a certificate.

How much is it

Your course will consist of a minimum of 6 hours training. When you have completed the course you will be advised to check available discounts offered by the many insurance companies taking part in the scheme as well as local authorities.
